“The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God” Leviticus 19:34.

Reflecting on this verse, foreigners can also refer to those new to the workplace or organisation, a student, the needy, etc. We are once like these and know how it felt so it’s an opportunity to be Christlike to these people.

As a foreigner to this country, I am grateful for God sent people who surrounded us right from the beginning. It made a lot of difference to have Christian people around you – to encourage, affirm, show kindness, and for their gift of friendship.

It reminds of Proverbs 18:24 where a friend sticks closer than a brother.
