On Sunday, 20 August, Oamaru Baptist celebrated its 140th anniversary.
It was a great service full of worship, testimony of God’s goodness, challenge, gratitude and commitment.
And, of course, in true style, a great lunch to follow.
A year ago, we were unsure what the future might hold, and today, we celebrate God’s hand at work.
The church has also been blessed by the willingness of Jonan Castillon, who travels from Timaru twice a week to pastor and lead this (re)growing congregation.
An advert and an article in the Oamaru Mail resulted in a number of people coming to the service on Sunday who had previous ties to the church, and it was wonderful to see their positive reaction to where the church is at today.

The Otago Southland Baptist Association has 12 faith communities. The furthest north is in Wanaka, with three in Invercargill being our most southern Baptist faith communities.
