I have accepted the challenge of serving the Oamaru Baptist Church. My first Sunday in the pastoral leadership part-time role was June 5th. The commissioning is set for June 12th.
As I have mentioned, this is a part-time role and an additional task to the multicultural response ministry programs I am doing.
We will be based in Timaru to continue with the other ministries with Gleniti Baptist Church and around South Canterbury.
When the prospect of an additional ministry area emerged months ago, I presented this to our senior minister and associate minister at Gleniti Baptist Church.
Pastoral care and leadership are required. I explained that Oamaru Baptist Church needed a pastor because the church attendance had dwindled. They had no pastor for several months.
Below is my acceptance message to OBC.
“Dear church, I have responded to the challenge of working with you to advance God’s mission for this church and the community. In the last decade of living here in New Zealand, the Lord God has equipped me with ministry tools that I or any ministry leader, can use to manage the church’s ministries and programs. I am excited to work with you because the Oamaru Baptist Church can use these tools and be a model for churches in New Zealand and other countries. Let us unite to rise and build up His church for His glory and honour.”
The Lord God is expanding the ministry area that we are serving. This expansion is a church supporting a sister church, just like in the days of Acts of the Apostles.
May the Lord God keep us and guide us as we serve. Amen.
