For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. James 2:26
I believe that one’s faith needs to be put into action. As Christians, we cannot continue raising our arms in praises, uttering how we love the Lord Jesus Christ every time we worship but neglect listening and responding to the cries of the exploited.
In our home group meetings, as we study about how Jesus Christ supported the weak and the marginalised we also talked about the present working conditions our fellow migrant works are in.
When we hold home Bible studies, we listen to the testimonies of hardships and trials our workers experienced in dairy farms, factories and offices.
In November 2015, after going through government agencies for possible resolution and failing to get a response, I had the opportunity to share with Jack Montgomery (The Timaru Herald) a particular case of abuse and how we tried to seek justice.
