The help that Hopevale Trust sent to a community in Mayorga, Leyte was distributed on 23 November 2013.
This has been achieved by working with trusted partners who have been diligent in making sure the relief got to people in need.
We have learned that the people in Mayorga are dependent on relief goods as of the moment.
With so much housing destroyed people have lost their homes, their food stores, their crops, and often their means of making a living.
Typhoon Yolanda has severely affected their means of livelihood such as farming and fishing.
What they have received will last for two to three days only.
After that they just have to hope and wait for other relief aid from private and government sectors.
These are resourceful and independent people, but the scale of the calamity from Typhoon Yolanda means they will need a helping hand for a while yet.
You can see in the photos below the joy on peoples faces that the needs of a small town of 15,000 people hasn’t been forgotten.
Gradually, the town has started picking up the pieces and began rebuilding.
The crisis isn’t over yet. Please send your help now!
